Manhattan Christian College has announced a groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction on the new Student Life Center on August 26, 2016 at 3:00 pm.

The project is a 16,500 square foot building for an estimated cost of $3.1 million.  This new facility will be large enough to benefit student life programming, provide a home for Thunder athletics, eliminate the need to rent city facilities, and upgrade the spaunnamed (1)ce available for leadership training events. Already completed with this project are the reworking of the landscaping and parking lot on the north side of campus and various technological improvements.

Since 1947, athletics had been a part of the overall leadership training program at MCC.  Despite not having any athletic facilities of its own, 52% of the student body participates in a varsity sport or intramurals throughout the year and the MCC athletic program has been consistently recognized nationally with 10 National Championships under its belt. The eight varsity sports compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association and the Midwest Christian College Conference.

With a construction timeline of 9-months, the goal is to have the Activity Center ready for use by fall 2017. To date MCC has raised over 96% of the funds towards the $3,000,000 goal.
