All USD 383 schools will be closed for the Winter Break from Wednesday, December 21 – Wednesday, January 4. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 5th.USD 383

The Robinson Education Center will be closed on December 23, 26, 27 and January 2.

It’s going to get cold this week with a possibility of snow! A reminder of the USD 383 winter weather procedures –

  1. USD 383 has a “snow team” that monitors the weather through local media, Riley County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.
  2. Factors that are taken into consideration – temperature, current and future forecast, SAFETY of students (waiting for a bus, driving to school, walking) is always the most important consideration.
  3. USD 383 tries to make a decision by 6am – if schools are closed, then the following happens – text message sent out (click here to sign up – Manhattan-Ogden Messages), local media notified, announcement put on the website and social media sites.
  4. RARELY will school start time be delayed OR students released early. It causes parents a lot of issues when that happens.
  5. Parents always have the right to keep their student home if they feel uncomfortable with the weather. Parents must call the school to let them know that the student is staying home due to weather conditions.
  6. As the weather gets colder, parents are asked to make sure that their students have appropriate winter gear – coats, gloves, hat. Elementary students will still be going outside for recess (although schools may cancel recess due to wind chill factors).
