MANHATTAN, KAN. –
Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Akshat Singh, 26, of Topeka, Kansas on December 13, 2016, at approximately 10:20 AM in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza. Singh was arrested on a Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for failure to appear. There was no bond given on the warrant. Singh is not confined at Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for theft on December 13, 2016, at approximately 2:00 PM in the 2100 block of Poyntz Ave. Manhattan High School (West Campus) was listed as a victim when an unknown suspect removed a HP Pro Book from a charging cart sometime between December 8, 2016, and December 13, 2016. The total loss associated with this crime is approximately $780.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
Aaron Lewis, 22, of Manhattan, was arrested on December 13, 2016, at approximately 2:00 PM at the Riley County Police Department. Lewis was arrested on a Riley County District Court Warrant for probation violation. Lewis’ bond was set at $5,000.00, causing him to be confined at the time of this report.
A collision report was filed in the 200 block of Fort Riley Blvd in Manhattan on December 13, 2016, at approximately 3:50 PM. Officers filed this report after a Toyota passenger car, driven by Deborah Johnston, 62, of Manhattan, collided with Darrell Schurle, 57, of Leonardville Kansas, who was driving a Ford pickup. The force of the collision pushed Schurle into a Mazda passnger car, driven by Kevin Bottom, 50, of Wamego, Kansas. Johnston was transported to Via Christi Hospital by EMS for treatment. A citation was issued to Johnston for the violation of inattentive driving.
A theft report was filed in Manhattan on December 13, 2016 at approximately 7:40 PM. Officers listed Aylen Vigil, 16, of Manhattan, as a victim when an unknown suspect took Vigil’s gold iPhone 6s after she accidentally left it on a school bus. The total loss associated with this report is approximately $620.00.
