WESTMORELAND – A Wamego woman was convicted this week of mistreatment of a dependent adult, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.
A Pottawatomie County jury found Jana L. Paczkowski, 54, guilty of one felony count of mistreatment of a dependent adult. The case stemmed from an investigation by the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office. That investigation discovered that between August 2017 and October 2017, while serving as the trustee of a special needs trust for a dependent adult, Paczkowski used money from the special needs trust for her own benefit rather than for the beneficiary.
District Judge Jeffrey Elder, who presided over the trial, has scheduled sentencing for July 18 at 1:30 p.m.
