The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Irwin Army Community Hospital has been scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
Fort Riley Public Affairs officials reported the hospital staff is conducting a 10-day transition of moving clinics into the new facility beginning today, with emergency and obstetrical services starting October 16, and Outpatient care and services starting OctoberImage may be NSFW.

The new hospital at Fort Riley is a 550,669-square-foot facility that provides Soldier, retiree and family inpatient and outpatient care, emergency medicine and a wide variety of clinical support.
The new facility will provide 45-percent more space than the legacy building, allowing consolidation of services from buildings that are currently spread across Fort Riley. It has 20 medical or surgical beds, versus 17 in the legacy; 13 labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum beds vs. eight; 19 beds in the emergency room vs. 12; and two obstsetrical operating rooms vs. one.
The new hospital is energy efficient and meets Leadership in Energy and Environment Design Silver certification standards, reducing power and water usage loads in the surrounding community.
The facility features a healing garden, water wall, two rooftop gardens and a reflective pool, in addition to scores of subtle design details to improve patient outcomes.
