The second of four open houses for Manhattan voters to learn about a special question on the general election ballot will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at City Hall, 1101 Poyntz Ave.
The City of Manhattan is asking voters to consider a 0.20% sales tax increase to fund repairs to existing streets and to implement Safe Routes to School projects. The increase would generate approximately $1.9 million for street repairs and $100,000 for Safe Routes projects annually for 10 years, if voters approve the measure.
Additional open houses will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at Fire Station 3, 2727 Amherst Ave., and at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at Fire Station 5, 3900 Vanesta Dr. Voters are encouraged to attend one of the open houses to learn more about the issue and ask questions of city staff. Voter registration will also be available at the open houses on Sept. 29 and Oct. 13.
