Fall Apple Day Festival set for Sept. 10

Fall Apple Day Festival returns to Fort Riley from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept.
10. The festival, which is free and open to the public, is the largest
annual festival at Fort Riley, averaging approximately 7,000 attendees.

Attractions at this year’s festival include Commanding General’s Mounted
Color Guard demonstrations, helicopter and tank displays, military working
dog demonstrations, a petting zoo, museum gift shop, an ATV rodeo and, of
course apple pie sales from the Historical and Archeological Society of Fort
Riley.  A number of food and information booths will also be available.APPLE DAYS SEVEN 9-26

History will abound at the festival with reenactors and antique military
vehicles on display, as well as rope- and candle-making demonstrations.

Parking is free and golf carts will be available to transport people with
walking difficulties from the parking area to the festival grounds.
Diaper-changing and nursing stations will be on site.  No pets or alcohol
are allowed at the festival.

Due to increased security measures, visitors who don’t have a Department of
Defense ID card should apply early for a visitor’s pass at
http://www.riley.army.mil/Units/GarrisonCommand/EmergencyServices/AccessInfo
rmation.aspx.  Those visitors need to enter Fort Riley through Henry Gate at
Exit 301 of I-70.

In preparation for apple pie sales at the event, volunteers and military
representatives will prepare more than 1,500 pies the week prior to the
festival.
