Riley County Arrests June 23

The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Sidney Brown Jr., 16, of Manhattan, was arrested in the 700 block of Allen Rd. on June 22, 2017 at approximately 5:35 AM. Brown Jr. was arrested for unlawful tampering with electronic monitoring equipment and criminal damage to property. Brown Jr. was transported to the North Central Kansas Juvenile Detention Facility, where he was held on no bond.

Officers filed a report for motor vehicle theft in the 400 block of S. 5th St. on June 22, 2017 at approximately 8:05 AM. Officers listed Timothy Ekary, 52, of Manhattan as the victim when he reported that a known suspect took a black 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. The vehicle has since been recovered. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,000.00.

Roy Roberts Jr., 27, of Independence, Louisiana, was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on June 22, 2017 at approximately 12:10 PM. Roberts Jr. was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for theft. Roberts Jr.’s bond was set at $5,000.00. Roberts Jr. was not confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for unlawful voluntary sexual relations and sexual exploitation of a child in Riley County on June 22, 2017. Officers listed a 14 year old female as the victim when she reported that a 15 year old male known to her posted a video of them engaged in sexual intercourse to social media. Due to the nature of the crimes reported, no additional information will be released.

Officers filed a report for burglary in the 2400 block of Greenbriar Dr. on June 22, 2017 at approximately 9:00 PM. Officers listed Tyler Findley, 20, of Manhattan, and Mercedes Shuff, of Manhattan, as the victims when Findley reported that an unknown suspect entered his residence and took a Marlin level action rifle, an Xbox One, miscellaneous Xbox One games, a UBL speaker, and an autographed football. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,130.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
