Fort Riley to host ‘Housing the Force 2016 – There’s No Place Like Home’ training event

The Department of the Army and Installation Management
Command are hosting the annual Army housing training workshop, Housing the
Force, at Riley’s Conference Center here Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.  This year’s
theme is “There’s No Place Like Home.”

More than 250 Dept. of Defense and privatized housing representatives from
around the world will attend the event to share and learn best practices in
Army housing.  Training sessions will include facilitators and instructors
from offices of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Office of the
Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Army Office of the General Counsel, Installation ManagementImage may be NSFW.

Command, Residential Communities Initiative and Privatized Army Lodging.

Collaborative sessions will include topics like customer service, management
procedures and policy, top challenges and updates, privatized Army lodging
and the Defense Travel System, housing market analyses, budgeting,
furnishings and documentation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a windshield tour of
Fort Riley and attend a teambuilding exercise at the Seitz Regional Training
Complex.

Additionally, according to Fort Riley Deputy Garrison Commander Tim Livsey,
the majority of the attendees will stay off post for the event and “see
firsthand why our community and the Central Flint Hills are such a great
place.”

This is the first time Housing the Force has been held at Fort Riley.
