Members of the Junction City Police Department were dispatched to Subway, 306 West 6th Street, at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers learned a lone black man approached one of the on-duty employees, produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. They learned the suspect had departed the business on foot.
During the investigation a possible suspect was identified, located and transported to the Junction City Police Department. Upon further investigation, the suspect identified as Henry L. Lightner, 53, Junction City, was placed under arrest on suspicion of Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer. He was escorted to the Geary County Detention Center where he was booked, processed and confined without bond pending a first appearance in Geary County District Court.
