Wing Stop opened its new location at 1126 Moro St in Manhattan on the third of November. It adds another flavor to both Aggieville’s lunch time and late night food scene.

Wing Stop originated in Garland, Texas in 1994 after finding success in their freshly marinated lemon pepper wings.  They now have a total of eleven homemade wing flavors, served with your choice of dipping sauce.

Terry Huffman, father of general manager Tyler Huffman, owns over 6icon-logo-seo0 Little Caesars on the east coast. He saw a new opportunity with more than a new franchise but with former Kansas State quarterback Colin Klein.

Former Heisman Trophy finalist and record setting quarterback, Klein and his wife Shalin, a former Wildcat women’s basketball player, plan to be involved with this new restaurant.  Shalin is the daughter of former Wildcat and College Football Hall of Famer, Gary Spani.

“After his season at University of Northern Iowa wraps up, he plans to be down here.” Confirmed Huffman.

Terry Huffman went into business with another former Wildcat as well, Charlie Morrison. Morrison works as the CEO for the new LLC, Cutting Edge Wings. This business structure is located in West Palm, Florida.

Along with their 1930s- 1940s “pre-jet” aviation theme, Wing Stop offers a variety of flavors aside from the traditional Lemon Pepper. Not only do they offer crispy chicken wings but they also offer some house made side menu items.

“People have been raving about our rolls” said general manager Tyler Huffman.

Baked fresh, they are buttered with an option of having parmesan cheese dusted on top.

“It’s been suggested that we may need to open up on Thanksgiving because our rolls are better than grandma’s” said Productions Manager Phillip Claire.

Huffman also said that most people order the hand cut fries as a side. Topped with a sugar and salty seasoning, the fries are served with a choice of dipping sauce.

People seemed to enjoy their time, as they were able to watch employees make their chicken through a window.

“I love the mango habanero because they are sweet and spicy. It is definitely worth the wait” said Blake Woodyard as he ate his lunch.

A wait time of about 17 minutes should be expected for customers who ordered bone- in and if you order boneless you should expect a wait time of maybe fifteen minutes.  That’s ok though, because customers are surrounded by tv’s.

Besides competing with grandma for street cred, Wing Stop will be open for fans from all over. On game days, people come from all over to watch the Wildcats play.

“Our goal here is to cater to everybody,” said Huffman. “We want to accommodate what Aggieville is and what this area does, especially with game days.”
