Lafayette Lodge No. 16 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Manhattan on Saturday, December 3rd held an annual Christmas Party for over 100 parents and children of the local St. Francis Community Services, at 4:00 p.m. at 322 Houston St. Suite A, Manhattan, KS 66502. This was the second family oriented party for foster children in the Manhattan area.

Kansas Masons from the Clay Center #134, Union #7 (Junction City) and Lafayette Masonic Lodges joined together to give foster families a great dinner and a night that they can relax and have some fun. We would like to thank the Brothers their support of this Kansas Masonssss project. These Lodges not only gave financially, but donated their time and served these families. The free dinner meal consisted of Mac and Cheese, Turkey, Ham, rolls, fruit salad, a chocolate fountain and several types of cake as well as lemonade and coffee.

This party could not have been a success without the generous assistance of Say Cheez Photobooth, AJ’s Karaoke/DJ Services, Cox Bros BBQ, Dillons, Ashley Rencher (deserts) and the Santa Cow. The kids loved getting to interact with Santa Cow and the receiving Chick-Fil-A kids meal gift cards. To Santa (a local Brother) for taking time out his very busy schedule this time of year to come and visit the kids with a Christmas card and packet of candies as presents. Most importantly to the Saint Francis foster families that have opened their hearts and homes to assist children in need. Your compassion, patience, and desire to help make a large difference to the kids in foster care. A dinner and entertainment is a very small thank you for your year-round commitment to the kids in your homes.

Lafayette Lodge meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at 322 Houston St. Suite A, Manhattan, KS 66502. It was chartered in 1859, and has over 100 members. There are more than 23,000 members in the state. Freemasonry has almost one-and-a-half million members in the U.S.A.

Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world, its symbols and history originate from the stone masons who built the cathedrals, abbeys, and castles of Europe. For more information about Kansas Freemasons, visit www.kansasmason.org.
