A Public Input Session regarding the future of the “Indians” as the mascot at Manhattan High School is set to take place this Wednesday at Rezac Auditorium.
The Indian mascot has been a tradition of the school for nearly 75 years now, with the latest design coming from a faculty member who was also a member of the Pottawatomie Tribe.
Manhattan High School will open at 5pm. The public input session will begin promptly at 6pm. Patrons are expected to use the front doors of Manhattan High School to enter the building and follow the directional signs for the auditorium.
At the conclusion of the formal presentations , all members of the audience who wish to address the Board will have 3 minutes to speak and will be timed by the Clerk of the Board. After the final person speaks, the Board will adjourn the meeting.
No vote will be taken on Wednesday. The Board of Education will meet next Wednesday at 6:30pm at the Robinson Education Center to finalize a decision.
