The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.rcpd

MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Riley County Police Department has received several reports of vehicle burglary in the past several weeks. If you have been the victim of a vehicle burglary (even if nothing was taken) please contact police to report this crime. If you meet the criteria for online reporting of crime you can file a police report from a computer or mobile device with internet access. This online report can be filed through RileyCountyPolice.org. RCPD encourages you to lock and secure doors and windows on your vehicles and homes. Please remember to remove valuables from your vehicle and report suspicious activity or behavior. If you have information about recent vehicle burglaries in the Manhattan, Kansas area and wish to qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00 contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers at 785-539-7777.

Police arrested Shayler Willis, 22, of Clay Center, Kansas while at the Riley County Police Department on August 15, 2016 at approximately 11:50 AM. Willis was arrested on a warrant for probation violation with a bond of $5,000.00. He was also arrested on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear which had “no bond.” At the time of this report Willis was confined at the Riley County Jail.

RCPD filed a report for the offense of aggravated burglary in the 100 block of EJ Frick Drive in Manhattan on August 15, 2016 at approximately 11:20 AM for an incident that occurred between 1:00 AM and 7:45 AM that morning. Officers listed a juvenile male as the victim when an unknown suspect(s) entered a home he occupied and removed an Xbox One game console and several video games. The total estimated loss is approximately $740.00 and at the time of this report no arrests had been made. If you have information about this crime contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
