To celebrate the season and show appreciation for all members of the “Big
Red One” family, the 1st Infantry Division is offering Thanksgiving meals
Nov. 23-24 at Fort Riley. As well as serving first-class meals, food service
Soldiers at two of the post’s two dining facilities are competing to win the
Senior Commander’s Best Culinary Dining Facility award.
In keeping with the Army tradition, officers and senior noncommissioned
officers – including Brig. Gen. Patrick D. Frank, 1st Inf. Div. and Fort
Riley acting senior commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jonathan D. Stephens,
rear division command sergeant major – will serve Thanksgiving meals to
their Soldiers.
The Thanksgiving meals are open to all Soldiers and civilians. The standard
meal price is $9.05 with a discounted rate of $6.80 offered to family
members of Soldiers ranked specialist and below.
On Nov. 23, the Thanksgiving meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
the Cantigny dining facility, located at 7673 Estes Road. The meal will
include steamship round, baked ham, roast turkey, lobster macaroni and
cheese, shrimp scampi, sweet potato casserole, garlic mashed potatoes,
asparagus, hot rolls, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, apple pie, cookies, fried
candy bars, candied apples and more
On Nov. 24, the Thanksgiving meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
Demon’s Diner, located at 694 Huebner Road. The meal will include
sage-rubbed roasted turkey, deep fried turkey, carved steamship round,
honey-glazed ham, seared duck breast, smoked brisket, steamed crab legs,
baked lobster tails, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, candied
yams, cookies, cheesecake, banana pudding, eggnog shakes and more.
