MANHATTAN, KAN. – At the time of this report, officers were in the process of investigating a single vehicle traffic collision in the 2200 block of College Ave. More information on this collision is anticipated to be released later today in the form of an official press release.
Javaris Brooks, 24, of Tampa, Florida was arrested on November 17, 2016, at approximately 5:40 PM while in the 2400 block of Greenbriar Drive. Brooks was arrested for the offenses of theft by deception and computer unlawful acts. He was given a bond of $6,000.00 and at the time of this report was not confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest stemmed from an investigation into these crimes located in the 2300 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd.
The Riley County Police Department is investigating a rape that was reported to have happened in the city limits of Manhattan, Kansas earlier this month. This investigation involves a 19-year-old female victim and a 21-year-old male suspect who is known to her. Officers continue to investigate and due to the nature of this crime, no further information has been released.
