Funeral service to be held for Manhattan native

Ralph Lewis Teaford, 86, of Manhattan, passed away Friday, November 11th, at the Homestead Assisted Living in Manhattan.
Ralph was born in Manhattan,  on March 10, 1930, the son of the late Ernst and Launa  Myrle (Divelbiss) Teaford.  He was married on May 24, 1954 to Barbara Evelyn Remy, and they celebrated 48 years of marriage and she preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 2002.

Ralph graduated from Manhattan High in 1948 and attended Kansas State University for one year, before serving in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War as a Sergeant.
Ralph was involved in the Manhattan Habitat for Humanity, was Treasurer for Blue Valley Yacht Club, Kiwanis, and was a Scout Master in the 60’s and 70’s.  He was employed as an electrician at Yeo & Trubey Electric in Manhattan, he had also worked at  Amelco Electric for five years and he also for Acker Electric retiring in 1992.
Ralph is  survived by four sons, Edward L. Teaford, of Manhattan; David Teaford and wife Candice in Keats; Gary Teaford of Garland, TX, and Fred Teaford also of Manhattan; he is also survived by two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.   Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; sister, Mary T. Jewett, and a brother, Howard Lee Teaford.
The family will greet friends this evening, Tuesday Nov. 15, 2016, from 6-7pm at the funeral home, cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley County Seniors Service Center or the Barb Teaford Nursing Scholarship at the Manhattan Area Technical College and may be sent to the charity or funeral home.
