The winning organization for this month’s Q-Munnity Generosity $250 giveaway is Ogden Friendship House of Hope!
The Ogden Friendship House was established 30 years ago to help those living in poverty in Ogden. Director Diana Chapel says the money will be used to help fund this year’s Christmas party.
“The big thing that the kids really enjoy is we have what’s called Christmas Store,” said Chapel. “We block off part of the gym and parents are not allowed in. Each child takes an “elf” and they shop for their parents. We get a lot of stuff that’s new that’s donated to our thrift store. We put it aside and we set it out for Christmas Store so the children can shop for the adults in their life. We have youth that are behind there and they wrap all the gifts so when the child exits from behind the curtain there they are, they’ve got their wrapped gifts for mom and dad. It’s become a really fun thing and a really great thing to bring families together.”
The Ogden Friendship House is located at 226 Riley Avenue in Ogden and is open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
About Q-munnity Generosity:
Q-munnity Generosity is a partnership between Q Country 103.5 and Thrivent Financial that we’ve designed to encourage our listeners to give back to their community. Every month Q Country 103.5 and Thrivent will meet to decide who will get the opportunity to lead a volunteer project to support a cause or organization they care about. Winners will receive a Thrivent Action Kit, filled with $250 seed money to kick-start their project, t-shirts and other supplies to help multiply their generosity. We’ll record and use this on-air and online to inspire people to take action around unmet needs in the community. Keep living generously!
