You can join Manhattan Mayor Mike Dodson and the Flint Hills Breadbasket for the Mayor’s Spirit of the Holidays Lighted Parade on Friday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m.  The parade will begin at Manhattan Town Center and travel through downtown Manhattan on Poyntz Avenue. It will end in Aggieville’s Triangle Park for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7 p.m.

Donations for the Flint Hills Breadbasket — both non-perishable food and monetary donations will be accepted during the parade. Bring food donations to the parade and watch for volunteers collecting food.

“We are so fortunate to be involved in the Mayors Parade each year,” says Maribeth Kieffer, Executive Director of the Breadbasket. “The holidays are a time to give back and be thankful for each other and what we have.”

All entries in the parade must be lighted.

The lighting of the Mayor’s Tree and holiday lighting in Triangle Park have been enhanced. The park decorations will be glowing with shooting stars that will be anchored in the trees of the park, in addition to hundreds of Christmas lights.

The lighting will occur at the conclusion of the Mayors Lighted Parade at 7 p.m. Special activities in the park will include the singing of holiday tunes by the Manhattan High School choir. Special guests will include Mayor Mike Dodson and K-State Chief of Staff, Linda Cooke.
