Riley County Arrests October 10y

The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Police and emergency crews responded to a report of a three vehicle injury accident at Seth Child Road and Claflin Road on October 7th, 2016 at approximately 2:10 PM.  This response came after a 2016 Mazda CX5, driven by rcpdStephen Morgan, 75, of Manhattan, collided with a 2003 Pontiac Aztec, driven by Roxanne Hill, 58, of Washington, Kansas.  Immediately following the initial collision, Morgan’s vehicle also struck a 2002 Toyota Camry, driven by Janelle Collado, 20, of Manhattan.  This accident occurred when Morgan was attempting to turn onto Claflin Road from Seth Child Road.  Hill was transported to Via Christi Hospital with an apparent injury to her arm.  Morgan was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress in the 700 block of North Manhattan Avenue, in Manhattan, on October 9th, 2016, at approximately 3:05 AM.  The vehicle is owned by Curtis Henderson Jr., 30, of Manhattan, who was present nearby, along with an acquaintance, who was asleep inside of the vehicle.   Jose Bustamante, 20, of Junction City, Kansas and Camron Moore, 23, of Fort Riley were both arrested for aggravated burglary to a vehicle related to this incident.  Approximately $14,437.00 of miscellaneous items including clothing and jewelry were taken from the vehicle and later recovered.  Bond was listed as $5,000.00 for both Bustamante and Moore and they were no longer confined at the time of this report.
