Two open houses remain for Manhattan voters to learn about a special question on the general election ballot. The next one is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at Fire Station 3, 2727 Amherst Ave.
The City of Manhattan is asking voters to consider a 0.20% sales tax increase to fund repairs to existing streets and to implement Safe Routes to School projects. The increase would generate approximately $1.9 million for street repairs and $100,000 for Safe Routes projects annually for 10 years, if voters approve the measure.
The final open house will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at Fire Station 5, 3900 Vanesta Dr. Voters are encouraged to attend one of the open houses to learn more about the issue and ask questions of city staff. Voter registration will also be available at this open house as one of the last opportunities to register before the Oct. 18 deadline.
