Flint Hills Discovery Center

Manhattan, Kan. – The Flint Hills Discovery Center (FHDC) will host Science on the Terrace: Astronomy Viewing Nights on Fridays, July 20 and August 17. The events will take place from 9:00-11:00 PM on the FHDC Terrace.

Guests will be able to look at the moon, planets and stars through 8” reflecting and 4” refracting telescopes with the help of K-State Professor Chris Sorensen and astronomer Brenda Culbertson.  Our experts will also point out the major stars and summer constellations.

Chris Sorensen is an avid amateur astronomer who built telescopes as a teenager that he uses today for public viewings.  Brenda Culbertson is an observational astronomer who has conducted astronomy education for over 30 years.

This event is free and open to the public. There is no registration required.  Guests are welcome to bring their own telescopes.
