RILEY COUNTY — A Kansas man was sentenced in Riley County Thursday for the death of a 3-month old girl.

Judge Richard Smith sentenced Andrew Gibson, 28, Manhattan to life in prison for the death of Serenity Nichole Reich in May of 2016, according to the Riley County Attorney’s office.
In addition, the judge sentenced Gibson to 34 additional months for child abuse.
Just before 9:30p.m., May 5, 2016 officers and emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Stone Drive in Manhattan for a report of an infant not breathing.
The infant identified as 3-month-old Serenity Nichole Reich was later pronounced deceased at Via Christi Hospital.
Just after 7p.m. May 7, 2016 police arrested Andrew L. Gibson in the 500 block of Stone Drive for first-degree murder as well as abuse of a child.
Gibson won’t be eligible for possible parole until 2043.
