Riley County Arrests November 15

The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Nathan Elder, 23, of Manhattan, was arrested in Jefferson County, Kansas on November 9, 2017 at approximately 9:00 AM. Elder was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for non-residential burglary and theft. Elder’s total bond was set at $5,000.00. Edler was not confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for arson and criminal damage to property in the 1100 block of Pierre St. in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 5:00 AM. Officers listed Henry Bartel, 34, of Manhattan as the victim when it was reported a known male suspect damaged his refrigerator and game system and set paper on fire which belonged to the victim. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $686.00. Clayton Nelson, 30, of Manhattan was arrested in connection in the 1100 block of Pierre St. in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 6:13 AM. Nelson’s total bond was set at $5,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for burglary in the 400 block of Walters Dr. in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 3:00 PM. Officers listed Brianne Smith, 23, of Manhattan as the victim when she reported an unknown suspect broke in to her home and took two iPads, an Apple Watch and DVDs. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,400.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
Amber Blackaby, 32, of Manhattan, was arrested in the 600 block of Colorado St. in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 3:30 PM. Blackaby was arrested on two Manhattan Municipal Court warrants, one for failure to appear and another for probation violation. Blackaby’s total bond was set at $5,000.00 causing her to remain confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 2000 block of Hunting Avenue in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 4:00 PM. Officers listed Taylor Lexow, 18, of Manhattan, as the victim when it was reported an unknown person damaged her vehicle. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for theft in the 200 block of Knoxberry Dr. in Manhattan on November 14, 2017 at approximately 6:55 PM. Officers listed Cindy Strole, 39, of Eudora, Kansas as the victim when she reported known male and female suspects took appliances from her rental home. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $700.00.
