The Italian Club of the Flint Hills is hosting a benefit to raise money for earthquake survivors in Italy. The event will be held Friday, September 23, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, on 2900 Kimball Avenue, in Manhattan.
“Four of our member families are from the areas most affected by this terrible earthquake. We felt we should do something to stand with our brothers and sisters,” said Francesca Honeywell of they Italian Club of the Flint Hills.
The menu features a pasta mixed in a homemade tomato sauce with a salt cured and spiced, Italian bacon. It is more commonly known as Pasta all’Amatriciana, which is a popular specialty of the village of Amatrice, one of the largest areas affected by the August 24th earthquake.
In addition to the pasta, the menu offers salad, homemade Italian pie and beverages. The group is offering the meal to the public for a free will donation of $12 per person. The money raised from this event will be sent to the National Italian-American Foundation for Earthquake Relief. More details about the relief effort can be found at: http://www.italianamericanrelief.org/.
