Fort Riley will host a 9/11 commemoration ceremony at the Global War on Terrorism monument between the Cavalry Parade Field and the Cavalry Museum at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Soldiers, families, friends of Fort Riley and family members of soldiers killed in action in support of overseas contingency operations will gather for the ceremony. This year, the name of Sgt. Joseph Stifter,1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, will be added. Stifter was killed in an accident Jan. 28, 2016.
