Grammy-winning guitarist Pat Metheny performs Sept. 23 at McCain

Experience the music of 20-time Grammy-winning guitarist Pat Metheny when he appears at Kansas State University’s McCain Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, as part of the McCain Performance Series.
Metheny, who was born and raised in the Kansas City, Missouri, area, was recently inducted into the Downbeat Hall of Fame as its youngest member and only its fourth guitarist. He has played with artists such as Steve Reich and David Bowie.

Joining Metheny in his McCain performance will be his longtime drummer Antonio Sanchez; Malaysian-Australian bassist Linda Oh; and British pianist Gwilym Simcock.

Metheny has won countless polls as best jazz guitarist and multiple awards, including three gold records for “(Still Life) Talking,” “Letter from Home” and “Secret Story.” His 20 Grammy Awards are spread out over a variety of different categories, including best rock instrumental, best contemporary jazz recording, best jazz instrumental solo and best instrumental composition. At one point, Metheny won seven consecutive Grammys for seven consecutive albums.
