2 hospitalized after 2 Sunday accidents in Geary County

GEARY COUNTY – A Fort Riley man and one other were injured in separate Sunday afternoon accidents in Geary County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported just after 3:30 p.m. a 2001 Dodge Ram Van driven by Ronald Lafever, 60, Milwaukee, WI., was southbound on Kansas 18 five miles east of Junction City. The driver failed to yield at stop sign.

A 1997 Chevy Cavalier driven by Timothy Hilton, 20, Junction City, was exiting Interstate 70 at Kansas18 Highway and collided with the van.

Lafever was transported to Geary Community Hospital.

Hilton was not injured.

Just after 4:30p.m., a Yamaha motorcycle driven by William Flowers, 21, Fort Riley, was north bound on K177 three miles south of Interstate 70.

A non-contact motorcycle traveling in front of the Yamaha applied breaks, The Yamaha also braked. The driver lost control and skidded on roadway coming to rest in the east ditch.

Flowers was transported to the hospital in Manhattan. He was wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
