The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
MANHATTAN, KAN. –
Officers responded to the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Bluemont Ave. on June 1, 2017 at approximately 3:21 PM. When officers arrived on scene, they found that a silver 2002 Toyota Tundra, driven by Radley Ramsey, 66, of Manhattan, collided with a silver 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Shawn Hamner, 46, of Topeka, Kansas. Ramsey was transported by EMS to Via Christi. No citations were issued at the scene.
Steven Meredith, 30, of Ogden, Kansas, was arrested in the 300 block of 11th St. in Ogden, Kansas on June 1, 2017 at approximately 4:30 PM. Meredith was arrested on a Kansas Department of Corrections warrant for probation violation. Meredith was issued no bond, causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for burglary in the 200 block of Westwood Rd. on June 1, 2017 at approximately 6:50 PM. Officers listed Daniel Mainville, 32, of Manhattan, and Stephen Johnson, of Manhattan, as victims when they reported an unknown victim entered their residence and took a Sony Acer laptop, an HP mini, an iPhone 6S, and a Fossil Blue watch. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,170.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Alex Eckstein, 21, of Manhattan, was arrested in the 1400 block of Houston St. on June 2, 2017 at approximately 12:05 AM. Eckstein was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for 2 counts of distributing halluginogenic within 1000 feet of a school. Eckstein’s total bond was set at $5,000.00. Eckstein was not confined at the time of this report.
Officers filed a report for vehicle theft in the 1600 block of Woodoak Ct. on June 2, 2017 at approximately 6:00 AM. Officers listed John Seltzer, 44, of Manhattan, as the victim, when he reported that a suspect known to him took his silver 2004 Silver Chevrolet Tahoe. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $7,500.00.
