The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police. Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further. MANHATTAN, KAN. –
Officers filed a report for unlawful volunatary sexual relations in the city of Manhattan on May 31, 2017. Officers listed a 14 year old female as the victim and a 15 year old male as the suspect when it was reported to officers that the 2 were engaged in a sexual relationship. Due to the nature of the crimes reported, no additional information will be released.
Officers responded to the 400 block of McCall Rd. for a report of an injury accident on May 31, 2017 at approximately 10:42 AM. When officers arrived, they found that a green 2010 Kia Soul, driven by Janet Audiss, 56, of Manhattan, was struck by a red 2004 Dodge Neon, driven by Megan Riniker, 25, of Saint George, Kansas, after the Soul struck the Neon from behind at a red light. Riniker was issued a citation for following too closely. Audiss was transported by EMS to Via Christi for treatment of her injuries.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. for a report of an injury accident on May 31, 2017 at approximately 12:50 PM. When officers arrived, they found that a gold Buick Lacrosse, driven by Morris Greenwood, 80, of Manhattan, was struck by a silver 2002 Suzuki Vitara, driven by Joseph Blackford II, 64, of Manhattan, after the Lacrosse turned southbound onto Tuttle Creek Blvd. from Kimball Ave. and the Vitara was unable to stop. A passenger in the Larcrosse, William Finley, of Missouri City, Texas, was transported by EMS to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. Greenwood was issued a citation for improper turn.
Officers filed a report for burglary in the 1800 block of Elaine Dr. on May 31, 2017 at approximately 5:55 PM. Officers listed William Davis, 21, of Manhattan, Gregory Copp, 23, of Manhattan, and Timothy Hughes, 22, of Manhattan, as victims when they reported that an unknown suspect entered their residence sometime in the previous 2 weeks and took 4 guitars. The total loss associated with this case is approximatley $750.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
