On May 30th at apporximately 5:24 a.m. the Wamego Police Department received a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Chestnut Street. Officers and Deputies arrived in the area and located a residence which had been struck by gun fire. Officers checked the occupants of the residence and found no one was injured.
Crime scene investigators from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department and Wamego Police Department investigated the incident. A suspect of interest was developed during the course of the investigations. The investigation led authorities to a residence located in the 1800 block of Marsha Lane in Wameo where David Rojas, 31, was taken into custody by officers from the Wamego Police Department, Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and Kansas Highway Patrol.
Charges include aggravated kidnapping, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and aggravated burglary. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident. This investigation is still under investigation.
