Riley County Arrests August 31

he following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attercpdmpt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – Joseph Brand, 23, of Manhattan was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on August 30, 2016 at approximately 9:40 AM. Brand was arrested on the offenses of possession of opiates, opium, or narcotic drugs and interference with law enforcement which gave him a bond of $5,000.00. At the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest stemmed from a warrant issued in Riley County, Kansas.

A report for theft of property lost or mislaid was filed in the 100 block of Barton Road in Leonardville, Kansas on August 30, 2016 at approximately 2:05 PM. Listed as a victim was Farm Bureau in Manhattan and Stacy Wurtz, 31, of Riley, Kansas. Unattended items removed from the area were listed as personal checks, a Samsung tablet, an HP computer, and a black computer bag totaling approximately $1,495.00. RCPD filed a report for window peeping in the 500 block of 13th Street in Ogden, Kansas on August 30, 2016 at approximately 9:20 PM. Police were told that an unknown white male standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds last seen wearing a grey shirt and jeans was found looking into a residential window. This unknown male is likely to be between 20 and 30 years-of-age and has shaggy hair. Officers now ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
