Riley County Arrests April 20

The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for vehicle burglary in the 500 block of Stone Dr. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 8:25 AM. Officers listed Amber Rightnowar, 34, of Manhattan, as the victim when she reported that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and took an iPad Air, wedding rings, and cash. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $3,400.00. Good news – we were able to locate Garett Swift and he is safe! Thank you for all of your help!

Officers filed a report for rape in the northeast part of Manhattan on April 19, 2017. Officers listed a 14 year old female as the victim when she reported that a male known to her raped her sometime in the previous month. Due to the nature of the case and the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released.rcpd

Officers filed a report for vehicle burglary in the 300 block of S. Seth Child Rd. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 11:25 AM. Officers listed Richard Gentry, 36, of Manhattan, as the victim when he reported that an unknown suspect took a Nike bag with 3 golf clubs in it out of his vehicle sometime  in the overnight hours of April 18-19, 2017. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for criminal use of a financial card and theft  in the 1700 block of N. Manhattan Ave. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 4:45 PM. Officers listed Michael Tully, 69, of Manhattan, as the victim when he reported that an unknown suspect gained access to his debit card and used it online to make various purchaes. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,310.00. Police ask that anyone with information contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

Officers filed a report for rape and blackmail in the northeast part of Manhattan on April 19, 2017. Officers listed a 17 year old female as the victim when she reported that a male known to her raped her sometime in the summer of 2016. Due to the nature of the case and the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released.

Garett Swift, 37, of Fort Riley, Kansas, was arrested in the 1100 block of West Loop Pl. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 6:15 PM. Swift was arrested on a Fort Riley detainer, and held on no bond. Swift is not confined at the time of this report.

Jeremy Richmond, 25, of Manhattan, was arrested in the 400 block of S. 5th St. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 8:50 PM. Richmond was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for making false information, and a second Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. Richmond’s total bond was set at $6,500.00, causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.

Officers filed a report for aggravated burglary and burglary in the 2200 block of College Ave. on April 19, 2017 at approximately 9:25 PM. Officers listed Blake Meier, 21, of Manhattan, Alexander Mittie, 21, of Manhattan, and Lucas Milner, 21, of Manhattan as the victims when they reported that a suspect known to them entered their apartment and took approximately $200.00 from their wallets.
